Leapmotor outsells XPeng, Li Auto and NIO in April 2022
China’s top 5 new energy vehicle startups all had a month-over-month decrease in April while Leapmotor outsold others by monthly deliveries for the first time.
Last month, Leapmotor delivered 9,087 new vehicles, outperforming XPeng, NETA from Hozon Auto, NIO and Li Auto. This is the first time for the automaker to win the championship by local new energy vehicle startups’ monthly deliveries.
Besides, Leapmotor is also the one which saw the biggest growth from a year ago, and also its month-over-month decrease was the smallest. NETA, ranking second, also had good performance by April deliveries with a year-over-year surge of 119.5%.
All of the 5 startups’ Jan.-Apr. deliveries outnumbered 30,000 units, while the highest results of the same period of 2021 were NIO’s 27,162 units. XPeng was the most popular startup by the total deliveries of the first four months. NETA followed with a gap of over 4,500 units. Even though Leapmotor was at the bottom of the top 5 list, it was only exceeded by only 176 units.
Compared with the same span of last year, Leapmotor’s year-to-date deliveries surged 419%, the largest among the top 5 startups, surpassing NETA’s 240%, XPeng’s 135.6% and Li Auto’s 98%. NIO’s total deliveries in the first four months grew only 13.5% from a year earlier.
