Chery May sales jump 26.6% year on year to 65,593 units
Chery Group sold 65,593 vehicles in May, jumping 26.6% from a year earlier. In May, its exported volume reached 15,020 units with a YoY surge of 48.6%, according to the sources from Chery.As to brands, Chery delivered 38,758 units with an increase of 17.5% on an annual basis. Chery Jaguar Land Rover handed over 7,037 units in May, edging up 3.4% from the same period last year. Sales of commercial vehicles reached 11,243 units, soaring 100.7% year on year. After Qoros was acquired by Baoneng Group, the brand posted robust sales growth and delivered 7,028 units, skyrocketing 538.7% over the same period last year.Thanks to new and upgraded models, Chery saw consecutive YoY sales growth since the beginning of 2018. Chery New Energy highlighted Chery Group's May sales, posting a YoY sales surge of 183% to 7,444 units. Besides, it reported remarkable YoY sales surge of 188.6% in April. Through May, Chery New Energy delivered 25,157 units, shooting up 331.2% on an annual basis.According to Fang Yang, vice general manager of Chery New Energy Sales Company, Chery had established over 250 dealership 4S stores and 500 service stores across China. In the second half of this year, Chery will step up efforts on products. The al-new compact sedan, the Arrizo GX, whose former name is the Arrizo 6, will hit the market in August. Moreover, Chery's high-end series, EXEED will also launch its first new model at the end of this year. The EXEED series covers sedan and SUV. It is said that Chery has set up the EXEED sales company in Shanghai, reconstructed the Chery Shanghai R&D Center, and appointed Cao Zhigang, former executive vice president of sales and internet development of Qoros, as general sales manager.
